Do you feel intimidated when you hear “Bootcamp Workout”?  If you do, you’re not alone.  I remember going to my first Bootcamp Group Exercise Class at the YMCA in Hudson, and being afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep up or would embarrass myself (even though I regularly ran, lifted weights and went to Body Pump).  I had wanted to try a Bootcamp Class for weeks, and couldn’t get the nerve to go.  An instructor leading it that I knew saw me on the treadmill, and invited me to join her class already in progress.  Without thinking, I jumped in and was instantly hooked.

What is a Bootcamp Workout

A bootcamp exercise class  is basically a circuit workout where you move quickly between exercises to keep your heartrate up.  They typically include cardio, strength and core exercises, begin with warm up stretches and end with cool down stretches.  They are well rounded workouts.  They often involve games to keep the workouts fun, so you don’t even realize you’re working out.  The classes tend to be different each session, so the exercises vary and target different muscle groups.  This also prevents boredom, because you never know what each class will bring.

My workout buddy, Sherry, and I went to bootcamp weekly for over 10 years.  We had several different instructors that all had their own “style” of creating fun classes.  They typically included games and competition, and we became friends with many of the regulars in bootcamp class.

Bootcamp Exercise Games

When the pandemic hit and the gyms shut down, Sherry and I tried to recreate many of the bootcamp exercise games from they gym to continue working out at home.  We made a “Candy Land”, “Chutes & Ladders”, “Matching”, and “Puzzle” game and were working out with our kids for their at-home gym credits.

After several months, we grew tired of the same workouts and dreamed up our Fit N Fun Games Bootcamp Board game.  We drew it on poster board and began playing it with our families. It is gamified fitness at it’s best, and offers a different workout each time you play.

At-Home Bootcamp Workout

At-Home Bootcamp Workout

Now that we have the game available for you to try, it’s a GREAT way to try Bootcamp at home for yourself.  It removes any intimidation, because you can workout with the game by yourself until you are comfortable with many of the common exercises in a Bootcamp Class, and can increase your endurance and strength.  You can view the exercises in our game, and learn the correct way to complete each one (plus modifications) on our website.  In addition to demonstrating all the exercises in our board game, these tend to be the typical exercises in any Bootcamp class.  This is a great way to try bootcamp exercises in your home, and learn how to do them correctly before easing into a Bootcamp class at your local gym.  If you’re not a gym-type person, our bootcamp board game offers a different workout each time you play, plus we will have new editions for you to vary your at home workouts soon.   Whether you workout by yourself, or with a group, our Fit N Fun Board games will make your workouts fun, so you stay consistent and get results.
