Our Fit N Fun Board games are designed to be played at home (inside or outside), but are also a great workout at your local gym or school. Initially, when we created this workout game, it was during the shutdown of the pandemic when the gyms were closed. We thought of this workout game, and hand-drew it on poster board. We would play against each other while on Facetime, and then in-person once things opened up. It was SO great to workout together (even virtually), was nice to have the social piece, plus the challenges pushed us to compete at our top level.
Benefits of Working Out With Friends
- Accountability: If you are working out with a friend at home, the gym or meeting for a run — you are accountable to go.
- Stay Consistent: Set a workout schedule with your buddy for consistent workouts.
- Competition: Working out with a friend motivates you to compete at your highest fitness level.
- Fun: Working out with a friend is social and fun and encourages you to meet your fitness goals.
- Vary Your Workouts: It is less intimidating to try a new exercise class with a friend, making it easier to vary your workouts.
- Reduce Stress: Exercise in general reduces stress, and working out with a friend offers even greater stress reduction (you can talk about your problems).
- Safer: Working out with a friend is generally safer — you can spot each other when lifting heavy weights plus there’s safety in numbers versus running alone.
- Extend Life Expectancy: Several studies have shown people in group exercise classes/sports live longer. The combination of physical, social and emotional is great for our health. Just look at the popularity of Pickle Ball…..

Group Workout
My workout buddy and I were friends before we became exercise partners. Our sons were in the same class at school and played on the same baseball team. While chatting at baseball practice, I learned she and her husband learned to golf. We began golfing as couples, and there I learned my friend liked to workout. I offered her a guest pass to try Body Pump at my local gym, and she loved it. We have been working out together ever since (over 15 years).
Bootcamp was intimidating to me because of the name, but I always wanted to try it. My workout buddy and I decided to try Bootcamp together, making it feel much less scary. After one time attending Bootcamp Class, we were hooked. Bootcamp was different each week, included games and make working out challenging and fun. We met many friends through Bootcamp, which made it even more enjoyable.
Since creating our Fit N Fun Bootcamp Board Game, we have invited many of our Bootcamp Buddies to workout with us and try our game. It’s truly a great solo workout, but even more challenging and fun when played with a group. Whether over Facetime or in-person, I hope you give our Bootcamp Board game a try. You will get a great workout no matter your fitness level, and because you also have fun, it will inspire you to continue working out regularly.
