Wouldn’t it be great if you could get a GREAT Yoga/Pilates workout at home that was fun, different each time you worked out, and could be done solo or with a group? Well, we hope to bring our Fit N Fun Games Yoga Pilates Edition to you soon!
We have polled several yoga instructors, as well as people who regularly do yoga. With this feedback, we created a first draft of our Yoga/Pilates board game and hand-drew it on poster board. We invited two yoga instructors to try it with us (Michelle & Sherry), and wrote down their comments as we worked out. We then redrew the board again, and brought it to Inspiring Actions Yoga Studio in Hudson, Wisconsin. A group of 5 yoga instructors, plus one of their 6 year old daughters tried out our revised Yoga Pilates Fit N Fun Board Game.
Feedback is Important

Yoga Eagle Pose
It was fun to hear their comments as they played, and I took thorough notes during the 50 minutes it took. I also demonstrated any exercises that they were unsure what I meant. At the end of the session, they gave me 10 minutes of feedback. The majority of feedback was positive, and they especially loved the community cards. They also suggested I minimize some of the numbers of reps on the exercises (especially on Tricep Pushups). They agreed that 20 on the Warrior Track and 10 on the Goddess Track should be 15 and 8 (a change we made). They also loved the track names of Warrior and Goddess!
Community Cards
The Community Cards are similar to the Challenge Cards in our Fit N Fun Games Bootcamp Edition, but with the competition taken out (I have learned that yoga is definitely not competitive). The difference is that there are no “winners” or “losers” with the community cards. During the game, everyone is rolling the dice, and performing the exercise they land on individually. However, when someone lands on a “Community” space, they shout out “Community” and everyone stops and completes that exercise or task at the same time. Examples of some community cards include: High 5 Your Partner, Smile and Compliment Yourself or a Friend, Meditate 1 Minute, Legs up the Wall 1 Minute, etc. The yoga instructors especially liked the compliment card! They all agreed that the community cards are what made this workout fun and social!
Yoga Stretches

Yoga Boat Pose
Because stretching before certain poses is important in Yoga, the game includes “Ladders” that everyone completes before moving onto a new exercise segment. There is a warm-up stretch ladder to start the game, a Warrior series in the middle and a Cool-Down series to end the game. Each of these stretches/poses are held for 3-5 deep breaths (because breath awareness and deep breathing are also a big component of Yoga and Pilates).
The yoga instructors all agreed it was a fun and challenging workout. One commented that it showed her she needs to get out of her regular routine and step up her at-home yoga practice. Many commented they would be sore the next day (but a good kind of sore). The 6-year old commented that it was a fun workout for kids, and she thought it was appropriate for ages 6+. She also thought it would be fun for gym class at school, or to play with her friends at home.
Bringing our Yoga/Pilates Edition to Life
While I would love to say we will have the Yoga/Pilates Edition of Fit N Fun Games soon, the reality is it will take some time. Currently, we have it at the graphic designer who created our beautiful Bootcamp Edition. After their first draft, we will need to have several groups of people try out game, offer feedback, and make any needed changes before finalizing a game board. The final step will be to send it for production. We hope to have it ready before the holiday gift-giving season in 2024.
If you would like to try our Fit N Fun Games Yoga/Pilates Edition before it’s finalized, and live near Western Wisconsin or the Twin Cities, comment below or PM me. We would love to have more people try the workout and offer feedback. The more feedback we get, the better game we can deliver!
