If you’re like me, you want the health benefits of working out, but it’s hard to keep consistent.  Why?  Because sometimes working out isn’t fun, and can even hurt.  New runners often experience side pain, difficulty breathing and soreness during or after a run.  Once you establish the habit, these symptoms tend to disappear.  However, it’s SO hard to establish the habit.

How to Establish an Exercise Habit

Most experts say it taked about 2 months to establish a habit. That’s why most New Year’s Resolutions fail in the first 30-days — because it’s hard to stick to something new.  Well, unless it’s fun AND rewarding.  I find that to be true with working out consistently.  While it might be hard to find the time, if something is FUN and I see results, I tend to stick with it.

Make Exercise Fun

Fit N Fun Games was created during the Covid lockdown to keep workout fun (and let’s be real, consistent).  Previously, I attended a gym where our bootcamp instructor turned most workouts into a game (Chutes & Ladders, Candy Land, Puzzling, relay races and even an Amazing Race type workout).   At that time, I had never heard of gamified fitness, I just knew the workouts were fun.  My partner, Sherry and I tried to recreate some of these workout games at home when the gyms shut down.  We played them for awhile, but they soon grew tiresome.

The beauty of our Fit N Fun Games Bootcamp Edition is that you get a different workout experience every time you play.  You roll the dice (literally and figuratively), and that roll of the dice tells you which exercises to complete.  Some days my workout is high in cardio, and other days it more strength or core intense.  This keeps my mind (and my muscles) guessing and prevents muscle memory.  The Challenge cards really motivate me to compete at my highest level, whether working out by myself or with friends/family.
