Do you throw your healthy goals out the window during the holiday season and think gaining weight is inevitable?  Many Americans give up during the holidays.  They shouldn’t. The holiday season doesn’t have to equal weight gain.  Holidays do tend to center around food (turkey for Thanksgiving, cookies for Christmas).  Party invites increase during the holidays, and they often come with extra calories from treats and drinks. Knowledge is power and knowing ahead of time that you may indulge in some extras means you can plan to burn off the extra calories.  You can enjoy your favorite holiday foods without negating your fitness goals!

Holiday Fitness Plan

In fact, we at Team Fit-N-Fun would like to challenge you to focus on your workouts this holiday season.  Planning ahead is essential.  Our challenge involves committing to playing our Fit-N-Fun Games Bootcamp Edition 3 times/week.  Devote two weekdays and one weekend day (or night) to our fitness game.  On the opposite days alternate jogging, walking, strength training and yoga/Pilates workouts.  Setting a schedule is the key to success when it comes to consistent workouts.

Workout Buddy

While you can play solo, challenging family/friends will increase your motivation and exertion level.  Working out with friends will inspire you to workout at your highest fitness level.  The Challenge Cards are more fun and motivating when you challenge a friend (although you can challenge yourself to do more reps/hold a position longer when you play by yourself). Having a set time to work out with others also helps hold you accountable to your workout schedule.  It could also be fun to set a larger group workouts on the weekends, making your workout fun, festive and motivating!

Many people recommit to fitness and health goals for New Year’s Resolutions.  We at Team Fit-N-Fun Games want to challenge you to get started early.  I plan to start this “Festive Fitness Challenge” on Sunday, December 1st, 2024.  Who’s with me?
