It typically takes about two months to establish a habit. Many of us want to move daily and know regular exercise is good for us both mentally and physically. However, in the United States it is estimated that only 25% of adults and 20% of kids exercise regularly. That statistic is alarming, especially considering the rise in pre-diabetes, heart disease, cancer and strokes that could potentially be prevented with regular exercise. There are many stats on how exercise is as effective at treating mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety as medications.
Establishing an Exercise Habit
Why don’t most American’s get regular exercise, especially when we know it’s so good for our health? It takes time and dedication to cement healthy habits. It also take awhile to get in shape and notice a difference (in appearance, muscle tone, endurance and energy levels). There is no debate that establishing a consistent exercise routine is beneficial to our health. The key lies in making exercise FUN, so it is easier to establish and cement the habit.
Making Fitness Fun
Our mission at Fit–N–Fun Games “is to inspire and support people in achieving optimal health and well-being through fitness games which make working out enjoyable, creating consistency and results.”
Our vision at Fit–N–Fun Games “is to gamify fitness through premier workout games offering varying exercise types inspiring people to achieve and maintain a fit and healthy life.”
Our bootcamp boardgame adds spice and fun to any workout, whether working out alone or with a group. How? Our workout is gamified fitness at its best. Players compete to race around the track by completing exercises and cross the finish line first. A roll of the dice determines which exercises you complete so it’s a different workout each time (which prevents boredom). The Challenge cards really spice up the fun and add a layer of friendly competition. Our Break Time cards also add an element of fun. Some cards allow you to give another player your exercise or ask you to “high five your partner.” The finish line adds another layer of fun. Players must complete the exercises on the ladder; along the way is a “speed bump” where players roll the dice to see if they continue or start over on the ladder.
Consistent Workout Routine
I personally workout to Fit–N–Fun bootcamp edition 2-4 times/week. I find it more motivating to workout with friends/family, but my schedule often doesn’t allow for that. I turn on my workout playlist, set out my boardgame, grab some handweights and the time flies by.
If you haven’t established a consistent workout routine, I encourage you to give Fit–N–Fun Games Bootcamp Edition a try. If you are new to exercising, scan the QR code on the board for a quick demo of each exercise (plus modifications). This gamified workout is sure to make your workouts FUN to help you cement your healthy fitness routine. Grab yours today and you’ll soon be enjoying your workouts and the results!
